Diatex is now divided into eight divisions.
Five principals : Aeronautics, Agriculture, Aquaculture, Composites,
Industry & Safety, Events and three secondaries : Buildings, Medical, Sport
& Leisure. Products range from structural fabrics and material
for light aviation to special fabrics for parachutes and spinnakers.
In agriculture, Diatex's materials are mainly used for research
and development purposes while the medical sector is supplied
with implant fabrics.
The Industry & Safety division specialises in industry and sifting
whereas Composites is involved in defence, aviation, racing
and sports. 95% of the specialist's production consists of standard
materials which can be ordered from a catalogue while the remaining
five percent are special products manufactured to order. Thanks
to its laboratory, DIATEX develops the new generation technical
fabrics adapted to the requests.
One of Diatex's main advantages is its diversity, allowing it
to balance out a decline in one field with growth in others.
After a boom in the 1990s, the aquaculture market is now contracting
heavily in France, but is still growing in Greece, Ireland,
Norway and Sweden. While aeronautics is stagnating, genetic
research in agriculture is developing fast. However, it is the
composites division, already accounting for 50% of turnover,
which offers the greatest potential for the future.
40% of Diatex's turnover is realised by export to Europe, Africa,
Asia and Australia. This percentage is in constant evolution
thanks to the strong partnerships that DIATEX is establishing
in the world.
